We have published an updated application note on Cassegrain antenna simulation using WIPL-D software, covering electrically large reflector antennas with diameters up to 300 λ.
The original study, published in 2018, demonstrated efficient full-wave simulations of Cassegrain antennas with reflector diameters up to 200 λ. The new version extends the analysis to reflector diameters up to 300 λ and highlights the capabilities of the latest WIPL-D solver technology combined with modern GPU acceleration.
The updated application note includes:
The simulations were performed on a modern workstation equipped with an Intel® Core™ i9-14900K processor and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4090 GPU.
This updated study further demonstrates that WIPL-D software can efficiently solve electrically very large reflector antenna problems using accurate Method-of-Moments technology with higher-order basis functions and commercially available hardware. For engineers working on Cassegrain antenna simulation, this makes WIPL-D a practical solution for both research and commercial antenna design.
