New Application Note: Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) Elliptical Slot Antenna

04-Aug-2026 Belgrade, Serbia

Our new application note presents the modeling and full-wave simulation of a Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) Elliptical Slot Antenna using WIPL-D Pro CAD.

The antenna is analyzed over the 2–15 GHz frequency range, with the reflection coefficient (S11) and radiation pattern evaluated to characterize its performance. The model consists of two radiating patches, a coplanar waveguide, and an SMA connector excited by a coaxial port.

A key focus of this study is the Symmetry feature in WIPL-D Pro CAD. By comparing a full antenna model with a half-model utilizing symmetry, the application note demonstrates that the number of unknowns can be reduced by approximately 50% while maintaining nearly identical electromagnetic results. This significantly improves simulation efficiency without compromising accuracy.

Combined with the Method of Moments solver, quadrilateral meshing, and higher-order basis functions, WIPL-D Pro CAD provides an efficient workflow for accurate full-wave analysis of printed antenna structures.

Read the full application note to learn how symmetry can reduce computational requirements while preserving simulation accuracy.
