Efficient and accurate prediction of cosite isolation
on large platforms

Analysis of antenna coupling on electrically large platforms often faces a trade-off between simulation accuracy and computational requirements. While full-wave methods provide accurate results, predicting very low levels of mutual coupling between antennas on large structures can become computationally demanding.

This paper presents an efficient approach to accurate full-wave cosite analysis of multiple antennas mounted on electrically large platforms using the WIPL-D Suite. It provides practical guidelines for improving the accuracy of low-level mutual coupling calculations and reducing the computational resources required for their evaluation.

The methodology is demonstrated on canonical and realistic aircraft models, providing practical insights into the accurate prediction of antenna isolation, even for antennas without a direct line of sight. The Bubble Method, an additional technique for improving the efficiency of cosite simulations, will be explored in detail in a forthcoming whitepaper.
